Loss of power and how to check the fuses in a Benimar.

This article explains what to do when you lose power in a Benimar Motorhome. It outlines how to remedy a blown fuse and reset your mains RCD switch.

If you find that some of your lights are not working, or your drop down bed will not operate, or anything else that runs off the 12 volt is not working, it could be you have blown a 12-volt fuse.

If you plug into Mains power and nothing is working, it could be your Mains RCD has tripped. Please also check the RCD switch on your Power Adaptor, if used (photo below) or the outlet you are plugged into.

The most common reason for blowing 12-volt fuses is the drop-down electric beds having too much bedding on the mattress or bedding getting caught during operation. An overloaded circuit is the most common reason for a fuse to blow.

Mains power RCD’s trip, when a fault is detected in an electrical circuit.

Instructions

  • Locate your 12V fuses, these are normally found under one of your seats (refer to photo below)
  • 12-volt fuses - pull each one out and hold them up and check that the small wire is not broken – if it is, please replace with the same Amp fuse. The Amp's are etched in the top of the fuse. You can find them at most gas stations.
  • Main RCD’s – if the switches are down this means you have tripped your mains power. Simply flick the switches back up to reset them. If the circuit continues to trip please seek an electricians advice.
